My dog has to swallow a pill twice a day, and it's not a problem since I started putting them in these. I've been doing it for a couple of months, and he hasn't caught on. He actually really looks forward to them. They are quite pungent, so I think they must have a strong flavor to mask the pill.
A couple of years ago my dog was on pain pills after a surgery, and it was such a nightmare for me! I tried putting them in all different types of food, but after a few times, he'd catch on and I'd have to try a different food. In the end, I just put them in the back of his throat and held his mouth closed until he swallowed (and I felt bad about doing that--poor thing!) I wish I'd known about these then.
This time around someone told me about Pill Pockets, and it has made it so easy. Taking medicine is now a tasty treat!

Wren this is great! My dog too has to take a pill twice a day for his thyroid. I am constantly buying treats to put his pill in and have the treat crumble all over the place. I guess I could find these at walmart, target etc.. huh?
1I get mine from my vet because it's only 2 blocks away, but they also have them at PetCo. I'm not sure about Target or Walmart. On their website pillpockets.net they have a place where you can put in your zipcode to see the nearest places that carry them.
2That will be perfect for my dog- she has a knack for always being able to find her pills no matter what I stick them in so I will definitely have to give these a try.
3These work but are so expensive. And they don't stay pockets for long. They turn into a big blob that has to be pulled apart to use. Manufacturer never even bothered to answer my problems with a response. Dog's love them but they seem too expensive and are a pain to deal with.
